I’m a forty something Northern lass who is trying to build up to running a Marathon one day.  After twenty years of being a happy couch potato I was tempted in to running because my little brother watched ‘Run Fat Boy Run’ (one of my favourite movies) and thought it would be a good idea for me and him to take part in the Cancer Research 10k at Castle Howard that year.  This would have been May 2008 and the race was in October 2008.

I started following a Cancer Research 10k plan, as usual putting my own spin on it, and the rest is history, a history of run/walking, injuries, races and finishing last but one more often than not.

Along the way I have made some fantastic friends, had some great laughs and whilst I can’t yet lay claim to loving the act of running you cannot beat that buzz you get when you hit that finish, be it your front door or a finish line, and it lifts you up for the rest of the day.
