It’s been a while…

Aug 03, 16 It’s been a while…

It’s been a while since I last posted, and that’s because I gave up on running. Life got in the way, I went though some pretty massive life changes, and I let it fall by the wayside.  I moved house in May last year and away from my village route. I’m sure if I’d made the effort I could have found a new route, but I let procrastination get the better of me and didn’t bother. A bit of a rough patch with the M.E, then another house move and going back to full time work after self employment were just more excuses I gave myself.

I attended a masked ball back in March and got a nasty shock when I saw the official photo. I looked awful. Somehow over the last two years I’ve let myself go in more ways than one. I took the bull by the horns and tackled the weight first. Now that’s almost at target it’s time for me to get off my arse and get back out there.

Realising I always had an excuse for not going to the gym, I bought a treadmill. Now it’s not being used as a clothes horse yet, despite friends assumptions, but it’s not exactly been over used either. NOTE: If you buy a Roger Black treadmill can I suggest you build it in the room you’re going to us  it in! I didn’t, I took the door off and it still wouldn’t go through, so had to pretty much dismantle it and start again in the spare room 😉

I’m one of those reluctant runners who needs a race to aim for in order to get off the sofa, so signed up for the Asda Foundatuon 10k in York this weekend. That was months ago. Am I ready for it? Am I hell. The furthest I’ve got is 5k on the treadmill and that was last night.

I’m a stubborn woman so will be taking part, this will be my third Jane Tomlinson 10k so I know the route, and I know what to expect. That’s why I’m running it in fancy dress! There’s absolutely no expectation on someone wearing fancy dress to go fast, or even run at all.

And just to ensure that this isn’t a blip and I do get back into running I’ve signed up for the Dalby Dash 10k in November. I’ve only done it once before, but it’s definitely my favourite 10k and I’m looking forward to it.
